The Washington State Patrol just issued this press release. Might explain those lights and sirens on I-5 this morning.
Olympia- October, 06 2010, at approximately 7:28 a.m. State Troopers pursued a driver northbound on I-5 from milepost 99, 16 miles north into Pierce County. Jason A. Moran was driving a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and was observed driving recklessly on I-5 south of Olympia. A Trooper attempted to stop Moran for the violations he observed and the pursuit ensued. Moran reached speeds over 100 mph attempting to elude the police vehicles.
Moran entered Pierced County and the heavy morning commute traffic began slowing him down. Troopers were able position their vehicles at this time to stop the pursuit. Moran was taken into custody without incident. No collisions occurred during the pursuit and traffic was only impacted briefly while the arrest was made. Moran told Trooper Gill “I don’t know why I didn’t stop, I guess I’m having a bad week”. Moran was booked into Thurston County Jail for felony eluding.
