A 35-year-old Bellingham man has been charged with three counts of first-degree child rape for allegedly sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl.
Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor Mac Setter filed the charges against Mark A. Stiller in Whatcom County Superior Court Monday, Oct. 25.Stiller was scheduled to plead not guilty to the charges Friday.
The abuse allegedly took place in Stiller's bedroom and began when the child was 8, according to charging documents filed in Superior Court.
The child divulged the acts to her mother. Stiller is a family friend, according to the documents.
When interviewed by a Bellingham police detective, Stiller did not admit to abusing the girl, but said, "if I did touch her, I'm sorry," according to the documents.
