TACOMA, Wash. – A 6-year-old boy who had an emergency appendix operation last weekend at Mary Bridge children's hospital in Tacoma was accidentally given a double dose of medication.
His mother, Destiny Brown, told KOMO News the hospital staff told her two different nurses gave the boy the drug, when he was supposed to get only one dose.
Brown says the mistake caused internal bleeding and the boy required another surgery on Monday.
The hospital confirmed the mistake in a statement and said it's taking steps to prevent it from happening in the future.

The boy is now reported in satisfactory condition.
