An older man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries after a two-car accident Friday night on Highway 18 in Auburn.
A woman in the car with him who also was in her seventies was taken by King County Medic One to Harborview.
Several passing motorists called 911 at 7:10 p.m. to report seeing a vehicle on its top near the off ramp to Southeast 304th Street from eastbound Highway 18.
Valley Regional Fire Authority firefighters arrived and freed the two peoples trapped in the upside down car. Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics treated the man and woman for for life threatening injuries and then they were taken to Harborview.
The driver of a second vehicle involved in the accident was treated by firefighters for minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital.
The off ramp to Southeast 304th Street from eastbound Highway 18 remains closed. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.
