Searchers are looking for a 73-year-old pilot who has been missing for more than a week after leaving on a flight from Silverdale, Washington.
The Washington state Department of Transportation says the plane took off from the airport in Kitsap County on Nov. 17. KING-TV says the pilot has been identified as Richard E. Nims of Silverdale. His family reported him missing on Tuesday, but he wasn't considered a missing person until authorities learned he had bought the plane and taken off last week.
The transportation department says Nims was the only one on board and apparently did not file a flight plan. Civil Air Patrol planes have been searching near the airport along with a King County sheriff's helicopter.
