Steven R. Moulton, the son of embattled Morton junior high history teacher Michael Moulton, will be arraigned Thursday in Lewis County Superior Court for first-degree burglary.
Moulton, 21, was originally scheduled to be arraigned this past Wednesday.
Prosecutors charged Steven Moulton with first-degree burglary after a June 25 incident in which he allegedly broke into a public bathroom stall at Gust Backstrom City Park in Morton and assaulted an 8-year-old boy by punching him twice in the face.
Moulton was dragged off the boy by the boy’s grandfather and detained by a family friend until police arrived after the boy was heard screaming.
Prosecutors say there was no evidence of sexual assault.
Prosecutors charged Moulton with first-degree burglary for allegedly breaking into a locked bathroom stall by sliding under its door and assaulting the boy.
Moulton was released Nov. 16 into the custody of his father on a $25,000 unsecured bond.
Michael Moulton’s teaching certificate was suspended by the state for three years at the beginning of the school year on accusations of inappropriately touching students. He is currently on paid leave from Morton Junior/Senior High School.
