A 15-year-old girl woke up in her bedroom in the 8800 block of Milbanke Drive at 4 a.m. Monday to find a stranger crouched at the foot of her bed, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Lt. Greg Elwin said the girl woke up because she was cold, and subsequently noticed that an exterior door in her bedroom had been opened. When she got up to close the door, she saw a person wearing dark clothing and a hoodie crouched at the foot of her bed. The girl screamed, and her mother called 911, Elwin said.
Elwin said the suspect fled out the door. A K9 unit with the sheriff’s office tried to pick up the suspect’s scent, to no avail. The girl said the suspect was between 5-feet, 4-inches and 5-feet, 6-inches tall, of indeterminate gender.
Milbanke Drive is east of Lacey, in the Madrona Park development.
The door used by the suspect to access the girl’s bedroom was unlocked at the time, Elwin said.
Anyone with information that may help the sheriff’s office apprehend a suspect is asked to call Thurston County Crime Stoppers at 360-493-2222.
