A Monroe teen who stabbed a young man in a drunken rage after he teased her about having stinky feet has been given an unusual prison assignment.
The Herald of Everett reports that while locked up, 18-year-old Dallas Smith must begin work on a research paper about how excess drinking can destroy lives. She was sentenced to 15 months in prison, and Snohomish County Superior Court Judge David Kurtz said she's supposed to complete the paper by May 2012.
The minimum length is six pages.
The judge said at the sentencing that while the "stinky feet" aspect made headlines, the case was really about the serious issues of binge drinking and violence.
The 19-year-old man she stabbed suffered a collapsed lung.
