A 35-year-old man was arrested Saturday in the slaying of a woman found dead in a Tacoma home, police reported.
Authorities learned of the incident when the man used a telephone at Tacoma General Hospital to call 911, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said Saturday evening. The man said he had fought with his girlfriend and that she was injured at her house, Fulghum said.
Tacoma police responded and found the woman at a house in the 4200 block of South 50th Street. Officers called Tacoma firefighters for assistance. The 33-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the home.
“It appears to be a domestic violence situation,” Fulghum said.
Fulghum didn’t know why the man went to the hospital to use the phone, and said the man wasn’t injured. Fulghum said he believes the woman had been stabbed and that other people were in the home at the time of the incident.
Officers arrested the man and booked him on suspicion of first-degree murder.
