Spokane County animal control officers have found 76 dead animals and seized more than a 100 animals from a property they raided several years ago.
The Spokesman Review reports the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service executed a search warrant on the home near the Idaho state border Saturday.
Agency director Nancy Hill says 27 goats, 15 cats as well as guinea pigs, rabbits, ducks and chickens were seized. A sheep was euthanized at the scene, and some animals may be so sick they cannot be saved.
In 2004, officers seized more than 60 dogs, cats, rabbits and turtles from the property. Newspaper archives show property owner Carol McMullen served two years probation after being convicted of 13 misdemeanor charges, including five counts of animal cruelty. She was at the home Saturday.
Hill said no arrests were made or citations issued and the investigation is continuing.
