Auburn police are investigating a fatal single-car crash that occurred earlier Wednesday morning on Lea Hill that also caused a power outage to 7,000 customers in the area.
Firefighters from the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the crash at 1:06 a.m. and found flames coming from a vehicle in the 11500 block of Southeast 320th Street near Green River Community College.
The fire was quickly extinguished. A woman was found deceased in the vehicle. Police said a nearby resident helped pull the driver from the vehicle before the fire started. He was taken by King County Medic One to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with unknown injuries
Auburn police said the vehicle left the street and hit a power pole. Puget Sound Energy was called to the scene and was able to restore power by 3 a.m., according to the power company.
