The Coast Guard says it has rescued all five people from an 80-foot fishing vessel that called for help when it started taking on water off the northwest Washington coast.
Lt. Elizabeth Roscoe says the crew of the Vicious Fisher called for help Thursday afternoon. The Coast Guard sent a helicopter and motor lifeboat with equipment to attempt to pump water out of the fishing boat, then about 13 miles west of La Push, Wash.
By 4 p.m., the lifeboat picked up four of the five crew members and a Coast Guard rescue swimmer who had been lowered to the vessel from the helicopter.
The fish boat's master was rescued at about 6 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Never miss a local story.
Roscoe says salvage efforts continue.
