A Longview-area man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly firing a sawed-off shotgun at two state Department of Corrections officers.
The Daily News reports that 32-year-old Richard Donald Lloyd Janssen is accused of shooting at Corrections officers Eric Morgan and Tracy Peterson on Feb. 10 as they tried to arrest him on a felony warrant. Neither officer was injured. A police report says that after Janssen was arrested, he tried to kick a Longview police officer who fell and broke his ankle.
Prosecutors say Janssen is charged with 20 counts, including two counts of attempted murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, attempted burglary and intimidating a public servant.
