The Whatcom County Sheriff's Office seized 72 pounds of cocaine, worth about $1 million, after arresting a Canadian citizen who was traveling north on Interstate 5 south of Bellingham Friday, March 4.
Narcyz Urbanski, 59, of Surrey, B.C., was booked into the Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of possessing cocaine with intent to distribute.
Urbanski was charged in Whatcom County Superior Court on Monday.
A Sheriff's deputy stopped Urbanski's car on I-5 near milepost 247; the deputy noticed Urbanski was acting suspiciously and summoned a drug-sniffing dog, Sheriff Bill Elfo said in a press release.

The dog detected drugs within the vehicle, which led to the seizure and Urbanski's arrest, Elfo said.
