Three Bellingham teenagers have been arrested after allegedly beating, stabbing and robbing a teen in Whatcom Falls Park Friday, March 4.
A 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were arrested by Bellingham Police Wednesday morning, March 9. A 14-year-old boy had already been booked into Juvenile Detention on an unrelated issue.
Bellingham Police were made aware of the incident at 9 p.m. Friday after emergency room staff at St. Joseph hospital notified them of a 16-year-old boy with several stab wounds, two of them serious, Bellingham Police spokesman Mark Young said.
The victim had been at Whatcom Falls Park with other people at about 7 p.m. They were allegedly drinking and possibly smoking marijuana, Young said. At some point, a fight broke out over some property.
The victim was punched several times, taken to the ground and knocked unconscious, Young said. During the assault, he was stabbed multiple times as well, and property was allegedly taken out of his pockets.
The boy was not initially cooperative with officers; alcohol may have been a factor, Young said.
Over the next several days, Bellingham Police identified the three suspects involved in the attack. All three have been booked for investigation of first-degree robbery and first-degree assault.
