A Chehalis woman was killed Monday around 2:30 p.m., and her six-year-old passenger injured when the 2001 Chevrolet Impala she was driving crossed the center line, traveled off the roadway to the left, and struck a power pole on the passenger side of the vehicle, coming to rest in a ditch on State Route 508, 10 miles southeast of Chehalis.
Diann M. Harding, 27, died in the ambulance on her way to a nearby hospital, according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol. She was not wearing a seat belt.
The six-year-old, who had minor bumps and bruises, was wearing a seat belt, and was taken to the hospital.
No drugs or alcohol are believed to have been a factor in the crash.
