KENNEWICK - A registered sex offender is behind bars for allegedly sending sexually explicit messages over a social networking site to three underage girls.
Michael Curtis Lee Damman is in the Benton County jail and being investigated for three counts of communication with a minor for immoral purposes.
The 23-year-old Kennewick man had a preliminary hearing in the jail Wednesday, where District Court Judge Dan Kathren ordered Damman held without bail for 72 hours.
He was arrested Tuesday by Benton County sheriff's deputies, who began investigating him on April 18.
He's accused of propositioning three girls over Facebook, including graphically describing his penis, court documents said. The girls ranged in age from preteen to teen.
Damman asked the girls if they wanted to have sex with him and another person, mentioning the name of someone the three girls knew, court documents said. He ended the message with a smiley face and said "if not, all good."
The parents of one girl copied Damman's message off Facebook before he changed his profile to a woman's name, documents said.
Damman is classified as a Level 2 sex offender, which means he is considered a moderate risk to reoffend.
He is required to register as a sex offender after being convicted of a sexual assault in 2005 and fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation in 2010.
