Police in Seaside say a man and woman who died when their vehicle plunged into a river in the Oregon coast town have been identified as a Vancouver, Wash., couple.
Lt. Dave Ham said Wednesday that 39-year-old Robert Weston MacNeil and 26-year-old Karen Irene Stevens were visiting when they went down a boat ramp into the Necanicum River on Monday night and drowned.
Police and fire officials found the couple in a submerged GMC Jimmy registered to Stevens.
Ham tells The Oregonian it's not the first time a car has mistakenly driven down the boat ramp.
Seaside police continue to investigate although the Oregon state medical examiner's office is reporting the deaths as accidental drownings.
