Passenger traffic is up at both of Alaska Air Group's airlines - Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines.
Revenue passenger miles – miles flown by paying passengers – increased 11.5 percent in June for Alaska Airlines and 0.9 percent for Horizon over June 2009. Both airlines are headquartered at SeaTac. Alaska employs more than 6,000 in the Puget Sound region.
Alaska Airlines filled nearly 85 percent of its seats in June with paying passengers, compared with 80.7 percent a year earlier.
For the first six months of 2010, Alaska Airlines’ traffic improved by 8.5 percent and 4.9 percent at Horizon.
