Issaquah's Costco Wholesale Corp. this week reported that August sales were some $500 million more than sales during the same month last year.
That increase to $5.9 billion was 7 percent greater than the net sales for August 2009.
The company said higher gasoline prices and favorable foreign exchange rates were partly responsible for that increase. Excluding those two factors, sales were up 5 percent for the month.
Sales for the last 52 weeks were up 7 percent also, to $76.3 billion, the company said.
