Sometimes it's good to hear a second point of view about what numbers are trying to tell us.
In this case, new data from the Port of Seattle show that Sea-Tac Airport’s traffic for the year through August is down 0.24 percent. Last week I said here that that number didn’t give much weight to the notion that the economy is recovering.
But airport spokesman Perry Cooper saw those figures differently. He pointed out that August was the third consecutive month that passenger traffic at the airport has exceeded last year’s mark.
August saw traffic increase 1.06 percent. July saw a 0.7 percent increase, and June was up 0.85 percent. Those positive numbers came after declines in March, April and May.
