Blame the icy roads, not security procedures, for delays at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Tuesday.
Figures from Portland’s Flightstats.com show that even as the day wore on, flights were still slow leaving the gate.
F rom 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., half the 40 flights departing from the airport were reported to be at least 15 minutes behind schedule.
Nine of those flights were between 15 and 29 minutes behind. Four flights left between 29 and 44 minutes late, and seven flights were more than 44 minutes behind.
Alaska Airlines spokeswoman Bobbie Egan said icy road conditions prevented many of the airline’s workers from making it to the airport on time to process fliers and their luggage.
