Nearly 87,000 more passengers used Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in October than in the same month last year, new figures from the airport show.
That’s 3.47 percent more than the 2,501,216 who used the airport in October 2009.
For the year, traffic at the airport is up 0.41 percent, to 26,487,115, through October. The swing began in the second half of the year as the economy began to recover.
Cargo traffic jumped by 1,822 tons in October, up 9.82 percent over October 2009. For the first 10 months of 2010, air freight tonnage was up 9,693 tons, or 5.11 percent.
Landings and takeoffs at the airport also increased in October, by 224, or 0.85 percent, over the same month in 2009.
