SeaTac-based Alaska Airlines has launched new flights this week to Mexico's second-largest city, Guadalajara.
The airline will connect San Jose, Calif., with Guadalajara four times weekly and Sacramento with Guadalajara three times a week.
Alaska is hoping to fill the capacity gap left by the demise of Mexicana Airlines earlier this year. Mexicana, hit by financial troubles, stopped flying in late August. An effort is under way to revive the carrier.
Alaska already flies to Guadalajara from Los Angeles.
