China's Shandong Airlines announced an order Monday for 15 Boeing 737-800 airliners worth some $1.35 billion at list prices.
The aircraft, built in Boeing’s Renton plant, will be delivered over the next five years. The airline said the new orders are part of its effort to field a 100-plane fleet . The airline now operates 48 aircraft.
Boeing is raising its production rate at Renton to 38 737s a month to keep up with brisk demand for the single-aisle, twin-engine aircraft. The company now produces 31.5 planes a month in Renton.
