The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that Borders has added an additional 28 stores to the list of 200 closings it plans as part of its bankruptcy filing last month.
The Tacoma and Federal Way stores now will close in May, according to a company list.
That brings the number of stores closing in Washington to four. The Gig Harbor and Lynnwood locations will close in April .
Borders said DJM Realty, a national real estate firm, will “manage the disposition” of its closed properties.
The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February. It said then it planned to close a third of its 642 stores nationwide.
With this latest announcement, Washington will go from 14 stores to 10, with the Puyallup location the only one left in Pierce County.
