Average retail gasoline prices in the Tacoma market were going up Monday, averaging $2.65 per gallon, according to the price monitoring service GasBuddy, which regularly surveys 271 gasoline outlets in the area.
The lowest price Monday, $2.29 per gallon, could be found at a Milton 76 station, according to the price monitor tacomagasprices.com. The lowest price in Olympia was $2.41 a gallon at the APP station on Fones Road Southeast, according to washingtongasprices.com.
“The price of crude oil, which had been gaining steam leading up to June, has now experienced a sustained downturn over the last couple of weeks,” said Will Speer, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst.
“This week, energy markets will be anxiously awaiting the outcome of whether the UK will remain in the European Union. Uncertainty over the stability of the EU could impact crude and American gas prices,” Speer said.
