A man who died Sunday morning while scuba diving in Hood Canal near Lilliwaup has been identified as Patrick Jack Kokos, 70, of Yoncalla, Oregon, according to the Mason County Coroner’s Office.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.
Kokos was with a group of divers, including his son, who were exploring a well-known dive site called Octopus Hole Sunday morning, said Chief Criminal Deputy Ryan Spurling of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
The man began having troubles underwater about 11 a.m., Spurling said. The man’s son, who is an EMT, began administering first aid after his father came to the surface.

Spurling described them as experienced divers.
There was no indication of foul play, Spurling said. Yoncalla is north of Roseburg in southern Oregon.
