Police in Yelm are searching for a suspect in a bank robbery that occurred Saturday morning.
According to the Yelm Police Department, the suspect robbed the America’s Credit Union branch inside Wal-Mart. The suspect did not show a weapon or say he had one. He got away with an unspecified amount of money.
The suspect is described as a white man, about 50 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 300 pounds with tattoos. Yelm Police Chief Todd Stancil said the suspect told a teller he had “demons.”
“There’s a potential that we could be working with someone who has a mental issue,” Stancil said.
Stancil said the incident is unrelated to another bank robbery that occurred in Elma on Thursday. Police in that case have identified a 47-year-old Alaska man who was arrested on an unrelated felony warrant as a “person of interest” in that bank robbery.
