An elderly woman had to be airlifted from downtown Centralia after she was hit by a car while crossing the street Wednesday.
The incident occurred at the corner of West Main Street and Iron Street at about 8:30 p.m. The woman was crossing the street in the crosswalk when she was struck.
Riverside Fire Authority in Centralia reports the woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in serious condition and that the incident is under investigation.
Centralia police say the bright setting sun was identified as a contributing factor.
