One person was arrested early Friday after a traffic stop on Interstate 5 turned into a chase through a Lacey neighborhood.
According to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, the Mercedes-Benz sedan was pulled over on I-5 near Exit 107 for expired tabs at about 2 a.m. The vehicle stopped, the female driver got into the backseat, and a male passenger got behind the wheel.
The vehicle then sped off down I-5, south on Sleater Kinney Road SE and ended up in the yard of a home on the 2500 block of Leisure Lane Southeast. Three occupants from the vehicle then ran off, according to Lt. Tim Rudloff of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
Police from Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater and Washington State Patrol responded. A Tumwater police dog tracked the female driver, who was arrested on a warrant out of Mason County.
Investigators have identified the male driver who led them on the chase, according to Rudloff. They also recovered drug paraphernalia and stolen property from the vehicle.
