Amtrak train service between Tacoma and Olympia has been disrupted Saturday while culvert is replaced underneath the track.
BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas said the mainline was taken out of service at 11 a.m. to conduct the work just south of Tacoma.
All traffic, including freight and passenger service, is being held while the work is completed. Service is scheduled to resume at 7 p.m.
Passengers are being bused between the two cities, Amtrak said. Amtrak Cascades 513, 507 and 509 were disrupted along with northbound 506 and 516.
