An altercation in downtown Olympia early Sunday morning prompted a man to fire his handgun, grazing the chest of his victim, according to Olympia police.
About 3 a.m. Sunday, a man was kicked out of King Solomon’s Reef in downtown Olympia, either because he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or was suffering from a mental health episode, Lt. Sam Costello said.
A second man emerged from the business and the two got into a fight. The first man allegedly lunged at the second man, which led the second man to pull out his handgun and fire the weapon. The bullet grazed the victim’s chest, resulting in an injury that was not life-threatening, Costello said.
Costello said police struggled to have a coherent conversation with the victim, and the suspect was still at large Monday. However, police don’t expect the suspect will be hard to find, he said.
