A 54-year-old Arizona man, who was wanted out of Maricopa County, Arizona, for a probation violation, was caught by a Thurston County Sheriff’s detective on Monday after the man allegedly tried to pull off a scam.
According to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office:
The man, Douglas Stephen Black, was in the Olympia area, attempting to “purchase” a house with fake bank records that showed he had more than $2 million in a trust fund.
Black’s plan was to get into a house and squat until evicted, authorities say.
After receiving a tip from a local real estate agent, a sheriff’s detective posed as an agent and met Black on Monday morning at his next target — a $700,000 home in Olympia.
Black was arrested on suspicion of larceny, according to jail records. He was previously convicted of fraud.
