A 43-year-old man was arrested Monday afternoon in the state Department of Labor & Industries parking lot after he threatened police with a crowbar and called on them to “shoot him,” according to Tumwater police.
The man was booked into Thurston County Jail on suspicion of third-degree attempted assault and first-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence.
About 2:30 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the L&I building where they found the man in the parking lot making comments about wanting to “die at the hands of law enforcement,” according to a news release.
He produced a crowbar and began waving it at officers, then smashed the windows of his wife’s vehicle. Police de-escalated the situation verbally before firing bean bag rounds at the man to subdue him, Lt. Jen Kolb said.
