The North Mason School District has been named one of the top school districts in the nation for its use of technology to communicate with parents, students and the community.
North Mason schools earned a third-place ranking among schools of the same size in the survey created by The Center for Digital Education and the National School Boards Association. More than 200 school districts participated in the survey.
North Mason was the only Washington school district ranked in this year’s results, though several other districts from around the state have been ranked in previous years.
The district introduced a Web site in the last year where parents can pay food service bills and find their children’s bus stops. The Web site can also be translated from English into 11 other languages.
In addition, grades and other student information can be seen on the “Family Access” Web site, which is part of the district’s electronic gradebook. NMSDonline is a listserv subscribed to by more than 1,000 people. The district also disseminates information on Facebook and Twitter. Community surveys are created through the online service Survey Monkey.
