A 4-year-old girl was killed in a crash Wednesday night on U.S. Highway 101, about 6 miles south of Shelton, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Also according to the patrol:
The girl was in a car that ran off the highway to avoid a collision with another car making a lane change. She was flown by helicopter to Mary Bridge Hospital in Tacoma, where she later died. Her mother, Nicole R. George, 28, who was driving a 1999 Subaru Legacy, was flown by helicopter to Tacoma General Hospital with injuries.
The driver of the other car, Kayla R. Yahne, 19, of Olympia, was driving a 2003 Dodge Neon. She was not hurt.
The Shelton woman’s car went down an embankment and hit several trees before stopping.
All occupants were wearing seat belts. Neither alcohol or drugs is thought to have been a factor.
The State Patrol is investigating .
