Fireworks are likely to blame for a fire that caused $10,000 in damage to a private dock, a personal watercraft and a rowboat Monday morning at a Long Lake residence on the 2300 block of Mayes Road, according to Lacey Fire District 3 officials.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 5:36 a.m. The personal watercraft was declared a total loss, but the rowboat might be salvaged, Lt. Dan Bracey said. A skiboat also tied up at the dock was pushed away from the dock and saved.
Bracey said a number of fireworks were found on the dock. It’s likely the dock caught on fire after smoldering through the night, then the fire spread to the watercraft, he said.
There were no injuries, and firefighters left the scene about 7 a.m.
