A 25-year-old man Federal Way man died after being shot in the head outside a gas station in Federal Way following a fight over a woman at a bar on tribal land in Tacoma early Saturday. Federal Way Police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said three suspects were arrested in connection to the case Saturday evening. They include the suspected gunman and two accomplices, whose last known residences are located in Federal Way.
The trio were to be booked into the King County Jail after questioning by police.
The victim and suspect got into an altercation at the North Point Bar and Grill located at 6210 29th St. N.E., according to the investigation. Police said both men were interested in the same female patron. The Puyallup Tribal Police were dispatched to clear the restaurant and parking lot.
The victim then drove to the nearby Chevron station located at 2125 S.W. 356th St., got out and begin talking to some people standing around when the suspect vehicle also pulled up.
The suspect and a second person who were involved in the earlier dispute exited their vehicle. The suspect approached the victim, a second fight broke out and one shot was fired striking the 25-year-old in the head.
Officers and medics were called to the scene just before 2 a.m. The shooting victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he later died around 4:30 a.m. The King County Medical Examiner's Office has not released the identity of the dead man.
Police contacted several people at the Cascade Ridge Apartments in Federal Way in the afternoon. Several subjects were brought to the police station for interviews. Police also found and impounded the Lexus SUV believed to be the suspect vehicle. They are obtaining are a search warrant for it.
