A woman jumped from a fleeing truck and was run over early Thursday in a police pursuit in Bonney Lake. A companion was arrested.
The woman suffered minor injuries after she was ran over by the truck’s rear wheel, police said. She refused medical treatment at the scene and was not taken to hospital.
The incident began just after 3 a.m. when an officer tried to stop a truck driving recklessly in the 19800 block of 100th Street East, police reported. The truck took off and the officer chased it through the city and into Pierce County.
The woman got out of the passenger side of the truck in the 20500 block of Lapaloma Drive as the truck was traveling about 35 miles per hour, police said. She was hit and rolled to the side of the road and the truck continued on.
The driver got out in the 20600 block of Lapaloma Drive and ran off, police said. The truck rolled backward and hit a stopped police car, causing minor damage.
A police dog tracked the driver to the edge of a pond. The driver surrendered and was booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of vehicular assault, felony eluding, reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia.
