Federal Way police were looking Monday for a man in his 20s who tailgated another man’s vehicle Sunday before shooting him in the head.
The victim, a 31-yearold Auburn man, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition. His condition was described Monday as stable with serious injuries.
He told police the apparent road rage shooting was prompted by an earlier traffic-related incident about 12:30 p.m. near Military Road South and 304th Street.
The victim said he might have cut off the shooter’s vehicle while it was leaving the parking lot on the west side of Military Road just south of South 288th Street. He told officers the shooter tailgated him before opening fire.
A witness told police the shooter’s vehicle approached the victim’s car on the passenger side and a gun could be seen pointing out the window. He then fired through the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle, striking him in the head.
After the shooting, the witness told police, the shooter drove south on Military Road.
The shooter had a mustache or goatee and was driving a black, midsized luxury-type sedan, police said.
Anyone with information on the incident or the shooter was asked to call 911 or police detective B. Clary at 253-835-6835 or e-mail him at email@example.com .
