There were no obvious signs of foul play or trauma in the death of missing 21-yearold man whose body was found Thursday, Sumner police said Friday.
Police identified the body as that of Maurice Charles McCall, who was last seen alive about 1:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day after attending a party in the 13700 block of 24th Street East in Sumner.
The investigation into Mc-Call’s death was continuing Friday. The Pierce County Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
Those at the New Year’s Eve party told investigators McCall might have walked off after being involved in a physical confrontation with another person at the party, city spokeswoman Carmen Palmer said.
McCall’s body was found partially submerged in a marshy area near railroad tracks at 140th Avenue East and 16th Street East, about a half-mile from the site of the party, Palmer said. A search dog discovered the body about 3 p.m. Thursday.
