The cause of death of a 4-year-old Enumclaw boy has yet to be determined after an autopsy, the King County Medical Examiner's Office said Tuesday.
An autopsy on the body of Bryce A. Bjornson was completed Monday, a spokesman for the medical examiner’s office said, but the cause and manner of death is “still pending.”
The spokesman said there is no time frame for that determination.
King County Sheriff’s Office spokesman John Urquhart said Tuesday that the boy’s death continues under investigation, but no arrests have been made.
The boy died Jan. 6 at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma after being admitted there Jan. 2 with injuries hospital officials called suspicious, the S heriff’s O ffice said.
The boyfriend of the child’s mother had been taking care of the boy while the mother was at work Jan. 1.
The boyfriend called the child’s mother during the evening of Jan. 1 and said he took him to his own mother’s house because the boy was sick. The boy’s mother picked up her son at the boyfriend’s mother’s house and returned to their own home in Enumclaw.
The mother was then up all night with her sick boy, the S heriff’s O ffice said.
The mother and the boyfriend started to take the boy to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital on Jan. 2. But the boy lost consciousness on the way and they went instead to Valley Medical Center in Renton.
The boy was then airlifted to Mary Bridge, where he died Jan. 6.
