Fire officials say a couple spent more than two hours stranded in the rising flood waters of the Snoqualmie River before being rescued.
KING-TV reported that nearby residents could hear the couple crying for help Sunday evening. They reassured them until fire crews and King County sheriff’s officers could arrive at their flooded car north of Fall City.
Fire District 27 Chief Chris Connor said they were cold and wet when rescued by boat Sunday evening and were taken to a nearby hospital to be examined.
The couple, in their 50s, were not identified. Officials said they don’t know why they had been driving on the closed road east of Seattle. Much of it was covered by several feet of water from the swollen river.
