A 29-year-old female drove off the road Friday night in the 600 block of School St. S.E. and crashed into a parked vehicle because she was texting while driving, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Tanya M. Bowers, 29, will be charged with using a wireless device while driving, failure to wear a seat beat and failure to use a child restraint. A 2-year-old girl riding in the car with Bowers suffered facial injuries because she was not properly restrained and struck the back of the front passenger seat. A 4-year-old boy, also in the back seat, was not injured.
Bowers, too, was not wearing a seat belt and suffered facial injuries. Bowers was driving a 2002 Nissan Altima southbound on School Street when she left the road, drove onto the shoulder and crashed head on into a parked 1999 Ford F-350 truck.
