Former Building Industry Association of Washington leader Tom McCabe was given the 2011 Ronald Reagan Award during the Conservative Political Action Conference held over the weekend.
The award, announced by conference chairman David A. Keene in Washington, D.C., each year recognizes “a conservative leader fighting in the trenches for the principles embodied by Ronald Reagan,” the group said in a news release.
Attendees also voted in a presidential straw poll for libertarian-leaning Texas Congressman Ron Paul, giving him 30 percent of the vote. The runner-up was former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, with 23 percent.
McCabe of Olympia resigned as BIAW’s president in December.
