A man was booked Wednesday into the Thurston County Jail on felony hit-and-run charges after he allegedly fled the scene of an injury crash near Olympia's western city limits.
According to the Washington State Patrol:
Michael L. Jackson was driving a 1990 Ford F-250 pickup east on Mud Bay Road about 2 p.m. when he attempted to make a left turn onto Delphi Road. He struck a 1984 Toyota Tercel being driven by a 54-year-old Shelton woman.
Jackson and a male passenger ran from the crash scene in different directions. Witnesses gave troopers a description of Jackson, who was tracked down with the help of a K-9 unit about a quarter-mile from the scene. He was hiding on top of a motor home.
The woman suffered multiple leg fractures and a fractured sternum and was flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Jackson was not injured.
