A Seattle man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for using his infant son as a shield in an armed confrontation with King County sheriff's deputies.
Federal Judge Ricardo S. Martinez also sentenced 32-year-old Panhnha Keo Tang to three years of probation for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Martinez set the sentence above the guidelines range, calling Tang a dangerous individual. The judge said the longer sentence was necessary to protect the public.
Martinez says he was surprised no one was shot or hurt after Tang and a neighbor got into a heated argument in May over the use of the laundry room in their apartment complex.
