Drivers who use a stretch of Martin Way in Lacey should expect several months of delays starting today.
Construction crews will work between 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday to install a new 16-inch water line between Neil Street Northeast and School Street Southeast, according to a City of Lacey news release. Utility work, which also includes paving and striping, is expected through the end of May.
According to the city:
During construction, two-way traffic will be maintained. However, delays and temporary lane closures should be expected. Installation will start at Neil Street and move east. In work areas, westbound lanes will be reduced to one lane and the adjacent bike lane will be closed. An effort will be made to maintain access to side streets and driveways. Bus service will continue at normally scheduled stops. Drivers are asked to allow for more time to travel through this area and to use alternate routes when possible.
Never miss a local story.
Work on the new 2,350-foot water line, with a construction cost of $557,000, will improve overall distribution of water in the system.
