A 32-year-old man convicted of pimping was sentenced Tuesday in Seattle to 26 years in prison.
Baruti Hopson is one of the first men to be sentenced under a law that went into effect in June that makes pimping for a minor a felony, The Seattle Times reported.
Hopson was convicted in King County Superior Court in January of commercial sex abuse of a minor, child rape and assault. The charges involved an Auburn runaway who was 15.
The Seattle man had been free on bail during the trial but failed to show up in court the day he was convicted. He was arrested in February in San Diego.
